My cats follow me around, everywhere in my house. They have to be in the same room as me. And when I am in the shower, they wait on the mat. They talk to me, a lot.... almost too much. And they demand my attention every waking minute. When I read, Ace, my big boy, does the creep... he starts out on the periphery of the pages, and stealthily he shifts his body into position, which is always across the entire book. Midnight, my girl, drools when she purrs, and that is really the only bad thing about her... oh, and she yells at me when she has not recieved adequate attention.
Do you all have these same issues? I thought cats were supposed to be the independant of the two most domesticated animals. What have I done to them?
I am really not complaining, I just wanted to introduce you all to my pleasure hell... Hi.

Fri, August 20, 2004 - 11:10 AMWinslow must be on the counter...always, when I am in the kitchen and he must cry the whole time. Because he is "starving." Oh so is WS...but he works the floor...with Gus the dog....it's all about them inthe bed too. THey work together to wake me up and follow me inside and out. It is unnerving at times.....Gus will be asleep and the cats will follow me EVERYWHERe! They are soooooo needy. -

Re: My loyal followers...
Fri, August 20, 2004 - 3:31 PMOur cats and dog have become a strike team in the mornings. Starting anytime from 6-7:30am. First, Euclid the tabby will leap off the dresser onto the bedlanding on our heads. Then the dog(Sophie) will start shrilly barking from underneath the bed at the cats. If we lock Euclid out, then Bella the tuxedo cat takes over his role. IT'S TOTALLY INSANE. Oh yes, and if we shut them out, they scratch at the door! They are totally relentless, but then if you feed them you are only reinforcing it!
What to do? What to do?
Also, 2-3 animals are always in the room with me at all times. Either squeezing onto my lap(the 65lb dog tries too!) or sitting near me.
It's a zoo. Thank god the fish can't follow me around too. -

Re: My loyal followers...
Sun, October 3, 2004 - 9:10 PMi can relate.
one of my two cats spends most of his time surveying his kingdom (like cats are *supposed* to do, right?) and the rest of it following me from room to room LOUDLY demanding something, though exactly what he wants i have not figured out in the 10 years i've had him. apparently something is just a tiny bit off in his kingdom and i am supposed to fix it. luckily, treats and a chin rub will usually shut him up.
my other cat, however... he is the sweetest thing. adorable. softer and plusher than any cat i've ever known. can't be without me for an instant. that was cute for the first six months. now i can't walk across a room without tripping over him as he fiercely rubs against my legs. he has no comprehension of the fact that my walking in any direction at all and his relentless weaving through my legs are not compatible. this can get dangerous should i happen to be carrying something heavy. more than once i have accidentally kicked him in the head, to which he responds not with the typical kitty indignation but with that eyes-squeezed-shut look of complete bliss and an even more determined head butt to the ankle. how can you be angry at something when it's so damn purrry?
